Magic Pony Gallery opened in 2004 as a result of working closely with the artists and designers who created the designer toys sold in Magic Pony.

Alongside showing their multiples, we began to exhibit orginal drawings and paintings with artists such as MARS-1, Gary Baseman, Dalek, Kozyndan, Nathan Jurevicius and Pete Fowler.

These first collaborative art shows allowed Magic Pony to share original works by artists never before exhibited in Canada.

We expanded our curatorial practice to begin publishing in 2006 and to open NARWHAL, a dedicated project & exhibition space, in 2008.

As the interest and knowledge in the gallery grew, so did Magic Pony's relationships with the local arts community. Our gallery repertoire expanded to include exhibitions by local artists such as Team Macho, Michael Comeau, Derrick Hodgson and Gary Taxali. These new collaborations led to more ideas and soon Magic Pony started a publishing company, working first with Derrick Hodgson and then expanding to Team Macho, Nicholas DiGenova, Kozyndan and Gary Taxali.

Today Magic Pony is host to many different creative projects, focusing on connecting the ideas found in the gallery with the multiples they have become. In addition to curating the gallery NARWHAL , Magic Pony works with artists to produce limited edition prints, publications and curates special exhibitions both locally and internationally.

Magic Pony's past projects and collaborations include Come Up to My Room, TAAFI, Design Festa (Japan), Harborfrount Author's Festival, the Japan Foundation, Gallery LeLe (Tokyo), TIAF, UpArt, The Design Exchange and Nuit Blanche.

Recently Magic Pony Publishing released the first collected works of Gary Taxali (The Taxali 300). In early 2011, "The Dazzle" hardcover will be released, featuring a showcase of emerging Canadian talent.
