MAGIC PONY : Part Time and Full Time Sales Associates
If you are art & design savvy, up to date with current trends, comfortable with books, art, jewelry, and (most importantly) people, we are looking for you. We offer an opportunity for growth in a passionate & professional work environment. OBJECTIVE: To offer the highest level of customer service through educating, nurturing and promoting the artists and creative products that are part of Magic Pony and Narwhal. Sales associates will work individually and as part of a team in all areas of the store including sales, merchandising, receiving, pricing, processing sales through the POS system and helping with special events and projects.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: » An understanding and appreciation for Magic Pony and Narwhal, our company philosophy and the artists and products we carry » Excellent verbal and written communication skills » Innovative, creative, self motivated and friendly » Demonstrate ability in sales with a strong focus on customer relationships » Ability to work in a fast paced environment, flexible to change and open to new experiences » Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to reach common, collaborative goals
BONUS EXPERIENCE » At least 1 year in a retail environment or customer service oriented position » Working knowledge and experience with POS systems » Working knowledge and experience with Adobe Creative Suite : photoshop, indesign, illustrator » Working knowledge and experience with Wordpress, Tumblr, Twitter and other forms of social media » Previous experience with shipping and receiving » Previous experience in merchandising/installation » Strong knowledge and experience with pop culture, contemporary art and design » Personal interest in creative fields

MAGIC PONY : STORE MANAGER

OBJECTIVE: The Store Manager will work directly with the Owners to oversee the operations and success of the store. Overseeing a small team, the manager will be responsible for motivating, directing and nurturing the staff to achieve their full potential while achieving sales goals and handling the day to day store operations. They will be fully accountable for sales, customer service, profitability and loss prevention. In addition to this they will be fully versed in all Magic Pony and Narwhal artists and products and will work to build awareness and community around Magic Pony and Narwhal's vision.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: » At least one year of retail management experience » An understanding and connection to Magic Pony and Narwhal's creative sphere and connection within the arts world » Demonstrate an ability to drive sales through excellent service, strong visual presentation, and relationships with customers » Strong record of developing talented individuals and supporting a team of staff » Able to problem solve by challenging the process in order to determine the best solution » Possess excellent organizational skills and have the ability to multitask planning, organization and executing projects by priority » Inspire, motivate, and encourage teamwork » Coach others to effectively delegate projects while at the same time allowing others the creativity to succeed by making their own decisions » Possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal forms » Take initiative as a leader by overseeing all levels of customer service and by setting daily goals and expectations to create a positive store environment » Exhibit excellent floor presence by training and coaching the store team on customer service, standards, product placement and time management » Take an active role in ensuring floor sets for the store are organized, scheduled appropriately, cleanly executed and completed timely

Magic Pony offers an amazing opportunity to develop professional experience within our exciting and fast-paced universe. We offer a series of different internships within the creative and business aspects that make up our studio, shop and gallery.
» Internships are unpaid but applicable for college credits » Internships require a minimum commitment of 3 months, 16 hours a week, and dedication to a set schedule. » Internships require a personal laptop computer along with the software needed for your field of work. » Internships take place at our headquarters in downtown Toronto. » Magic Pony does not cover any travel, housing, transportation, or living expenses. » Magic Pony internships do not imply full-time employment of any kind. NARWHAL : Gallery Internships
Deadline: Ongoing Reporting to the owners, the Gallery Intern provides a range of administrative, creative and research assistance related to Narwhal's exhibitions, publications, print editions, community programming, and website, gaining insight and knowledge into all aspects involved in running a small commercial gallery. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: » Researching and contributing to grant applications and funding sources for exhibitions, programming and publications » Assisting with the promotion of events, and publications » Assisting with content for publicity material and publications » Researching artists for exhibitions » Assisting with proof reading and copy editing » Preparing material for the website and social media sources » Preparing texts on artists, public programs, exhibitions, catalogues and artists' editions » Assisting at events » Assisting with exhibition set up and takedown » Assisting with print production » Assisting with catalog wholesale
Requirements and Timeframe Internships are unpaid and are open to anyone with a serious interest in contemporary art, specifically those with an affinity to the artists, programming and mandate of Narwhal. Applicants have typically completed an undergraduate degree in the visual arts, art history or the humanities, but we consider all interested applicants. We also encourage Interns to bring their own projects/initiatives to the table, and we strive to work with Interns' specific strengths and interests. We request a minimum of 2 days per week for 3 months, or the equivalent number of hours or days over a shorter period of time.
