ILAVSKA

GROUP EXHIBITION

Ilavska explores a new generation of artists who integrate a deep appreciation for the craft tradition and aesthetic into modern techniques and styles; an approach which reveals skepticism toward today's instantly gratifying, disposable culture. As a re-valuing and re-imagining of historically feminine pursuits, the artwork of Ilavksa evokes a weighty sense of time, memory and nostalgia.

C'EST MOI CE SOIR

NOW THERE'S ONLY LOVE IN THE DARK

C'est Moi Ce Soir return to Magic Pony with a show drawings and collage. Pulling upon fragments of fiction and the extra-ordinary, the audacious pair concentrates on the personal expression of imagination and creativity to evoke a sense of vernacular storytelling.

TEAM MACHO

FANCY ACTION NOW

Ranging from the crudely rendered to the classically painted, and from graphite to airbrush, Team Macho playfully juxtapose styles and motifs. With a penchant for humble, unconventional materials like dollar-store watercolours and thrift-shop frames, Team Macho's work conveys a decidedly unorthodox and individual approach. This exhibition also celebrates the launch of their first monograph; Fancy Action Now: The Art of Team Macho, which collects the prolific works of Team Macho over the past three years.

TALES OF THE BUNNYFISH

Through painting, drawing, photography and sculpture, Kozyndan transcribe the infamous Bunnyfish exploits for the first time. A fun-loving familiar, the promiscuous Bunnyfish travels the world with Kozyndan.

MITTENFISTS

A showcase of emerging artists Melinda Josie, Jacob Whibley and Andrew Wilson. With three unique approaches to their work, Mittenfists juxtaposes nonobjective and abstract collage work alongside enigmatic landscapes, mythical creatures, darling pugs, and watchful birds.

LAST YEAR'S WINNER

A solo exhibition with Gary Taxali, Last Year's Winner showcases over sixty new mixed media pieces. Mixing vintage advertising vernacular with contemporary jest, Taxali simultaneously pokes fun and embraces the sheer absurdness of human nature.

DERRICK HODGSON

MEGA WIBBIED MINDTHICKET

New mixed media paintings, drawings and wooden sculpture take us deeper into Derrick Hodgson's abstract world influenced by nature, growth and death. Using aspects of cartoon, graffiti and contemporary design, Hodgson renders complex social spaces, crowded with familiar and mutated characters.

NICOLETTA CECCOLI

INFLORESCENCE

A solo exhibition with Italian painter, Nicoletta Ceccoli, Inflorescence showcases a stunning bouquet of exquisite girls interacting with the flora and fauna that surrounds them. Painted in acrylic on paper, each work is meticulously crafted with a seamless technique where brush stokes disappear and each image floats within it's own dreamlike haze.
