New at Magic Pony

As a forum for creative living, NARWHAL fosters a commonwealth between enthusiasm, interaction and aesthetic appreciation. Since establishing our first gallery in 2004, Magic Pony Gallery has become a passionate cultural mediator, building enduring relationships between artists, collectors, and the community. Informed by an entrepreneurial spirit, we have long sought to re-conceive what an art space should be; combining the commercial gallery paradigm with the experimental attitude of an alternative exhibition and concept possibilities. From that upbringing, NARWHAL is immersed in the professional and personal development their artists; taking risks and providing them with the freedom to create.

Our past projects and collaborations include Luminato, Nuit Blanche, AQUA Miami, The Japan Foundation, Come Up to My Room, UPArt, FITC, Design Festa (Japan), Pictoplasma (Germany), Harborfront Authors’ Festival, Greenpeace, Nintendo, Fido, CWC Japan and The Design Exchange. We also work within the ROJO Creative consortium and Lunch creative network and teach at OCADU. In 2010, we worked exclusively on events with Drawn & Quarterly, Roots Canada and hosting a rare exhibition of original work created by FriendsWithYou in tandem with the 2010 Luminato Festival in Toronto. In 2011 we worked a community of artists for TorontoHeartsJapan and with Toronto Tourism on a citywide giant snowman project  for TORONTOLAND.

Recognized in their commitment to provide a platform for emerging Canadian talent, as well as bringing something new to Toronto’s cultural sphere, Narwhal actively explores the convergences between fine art, design and visual culture — extending the ongoing discourse surrounding art practice within a more contemporary tradition.
