In 1988, the film My Neighbor Totoro, was released. It was created and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The film follows two young sisters, Satsuko and Mei, and takes you on their magical journey of discovering the creatures hidden in the forest behind their house. They find the mythical creature that can only be seen by children called Totoro that sleeps in a hollow tree. Hayao Miyazaki is the founder of Studio Ghibli and is considered one of most influential animators in the history of cinema.
