Irregular Alphahedrons
Noel Middleton
Wood, oil, paint. Approx 1.5×1.5″.
$100/set of two
When thrown from a particular elevation and angle, with a particular force, the Alphahedron will land on a given edge or corner, and roll face upon face as it slows to a stop. Results are unknown but predictive with successive throws. By multiplying the number of Alphahedrons thrown, the alphabraic code begins to provide incrementally increasing odds that the users natural ability to identify patterns will draw a personally meaningful message, to confirm or re-affirm, to see beyond and before.
Exhibited as part of the Unicorn at Narwhal Art Projects. This special exhibition showcased the handcrafted work of over 20 artists. With a particular focus on tactile, three-dimensional objects, The Unicorn is comprised of sculpture, textiles, dioramas, painting and collage.
