Magic Pony welcomes UK artist Gemma Correll for her first Canadian exhibition The Mr Pickles Fan Club. Drawing inspiration from everyday life, Correll creates a tragicomic narrative of one-liners and situational humour that pokes fun at contemporary dilemmas and burdens, with credos such as "Pugs Not Drugs". Featuring a wide range of characters - from dogs, cats, food, tiny animals, domestic life to the internet itself - Correll's work consists of informally drawn anecdotes, often balanced with a delightful sense of British satire. While best known for her graphic illustrations, her practice is remarkably diverse; appearing through drawings, comics, stationary, apparel, textiles, printmaking, sculpture, murals and exhibitions. She is also the writer and illustrator of several books including "Pug's Guide to Etiquette" (2012) and "A Cat's Life" (2010).

The exhibition The Mr Pickles Fan Club presents an eclectic collection of all things "pug" - including original artwork by Gemma Correll as well as products ranging from apparel and badges to figurines and ornaments, all featuring the iconic Mr Pickles image, as well as some of his lesser-known animal companions.
