MARS (aka Mario Martinez) is a visual artist with a street background. Growing up in Fresno, MARS picked up his first can of spray paint at age 13 and hasn't stopped doing graffiti since.
His work can be seen on walls throughout San Francisco where he currently resides. Besides walls, MARS also works on canvas and computer and his fine art has been shown in galleries throughout the United States. His unique style has been described as urban-Gothic, a dimensional grid of self-echoing harmonics, and sci-fi abstracted quasi-organic form.
Magic Pony is proud to introduce MARS (Mario Martinez) in his first Canadian solo show. This show will run from May 27 to June 20 at the Magic Pony Gallery. The opening reception will be held at Magic Pony on May 27 from 7-11pm. At this time we will also be launching the book 4 Words, a collection of illustrative works by four San Francisco artists including MARS. Lastly, the limited edition vinyl figure designed by MARS will be premiered. Produced by Strangeco, Recon and Three Zero, the MARS-1 figure is an uncanny replica of a MARS illustration. This show is unique as it showcases MARS-1’s work in several different formats from paint to vinyl to printed matter and gives great insight into the San Francisco street art scene.
