About Magic Pony
Magic Pony is an art gallery, boutique and studio space located
in Toronto, Canada. Magic Pony collaborates with multi-disciplinary
artists to create unique exhibits and products. Designer toys, clothing,
printed matter, plush and household items are showcased alongside
more traditional forms of artwork giving a unique perspective into
the artists vision.
Magic Pony was created by Steve Cober and Kristin Weckworth in 2002.
It began as a small studio catering to collectors, quickly grew
into a website, which expanded into Canadas first art-toy boutique.
The Magic Pony Gallery opened soon after in 2003. Today Magic Pony
exhibits both local and international artists, many who have never
exhibited in Canada before and are considered leaders in their respective
fields.
Articles on the gallery, exhibitions, and artists have been featured
in: The Toronto Star, The National Post, The Globe and Mail, CBC
Radio, TVO, MuchMusic, Elle, Bits Magazine, Juxtapoz, Res, Pound
and in many international publications. Exhibit collaborators include
Rojo (Spain), Fying Cat (HK), Resfest (USA), Toy2R (HK), Strangeco
(USA), Recon (USA) and Cross World Connections(JP).

le. gallery
le. Gallery was opened in 2003 in the transitional
neighbourhood of Little Portugal located at Dundas St W and Ossington
Ave. in Toronto. The 1000 Square foot space focuses on the promotion
and exposure of emerging and mid career artists in critical contemporary
practice. Channeling a need to create a critical forum for contemporary
art in Toronto and strengthening the careers of emerging artists
around him, director Wil Kucey has forged a path of professional
representation for artists yet to break into the commercial market.
In its first two years, le. has garnered a solid reputation for
itself and its artist with multiple reviews, locally, nationally,
and internationally as well as inclusion in exhibitions at the Museum
of Contemporary Canadian Art (MOCCA), New York, as well as being
voted runner up for Small Gallery of the Year by Eye Magazine and
a nomination for Emerging Curator of the Year from the Untitled
Art Awards. The mandate of the gallery allows for the exhibition
of work in all mediums and facilitates the introduction of emerging
artists to not only to the public but also to collectors and the
upper tier galleries in the city. le. strives to promote emerging
artists in the contemporary art field with a strong focus on work
exploring graphic elements and links to the subgenres of society
and culture.
