Artist Bios:


Sonja Ahlers(CAN)
Sonja Ahlers is a self-taught visual artist and writer. Her work is a blend of the artist book and zine. Ahlers is a pioneer of what could be called the highbrow zine, a writing style pertinent to the West Coast underground. She shows her visual work regularly and her work is also published in magazines and anthologies. Ahlers' goal is to continue to refine her style, falling somewhere between Beatrix Potter tales, Gary Larson's Far Side and public service announcements. www.makeitawesome.com

Andrew Brandou (USA)
Andrew Brandou earned his BFA from Otis/Parsons in Los Angeles. He has been exhibiting since 1998 at galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Portland and Seattle. www.handsomeroad.com

Trudie Cheng (CAN)
Trudie Cheng is a graduate of Ontario College of Art’s printmaking program. Her current works are embroidered and appliquéd pictures using a cast of animals to tell both personal and imagined stories, with a particular interest in emotions, magic and darkness. Recent projects include a solo show of large-scale embroideries at SAW Gallery in Ottawa, and illustrations for Jack Spade and The Walrus Magazine.

James Jarvis (UK)
James Jarvis earned his MA in Illustration at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1998 he began collaboration with UK fashion label Silas and was one of the pioneers in the designer figure revolution ("Martin", 1998). He currently produces the ongoing In-crowd figure series with Amos Toys. He has exhibited at galleries in London, Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York and Paris. Recent projects include "Beautiful Losers" (Contemporary Arts Centre, Cinncinnati) and the upcoming comic " Vortigerns Machine". homepage.mac.com/jamesjarvis

Nathan Jurevicius (AUS)
Nathan Jurevicius is an Australian artist who began his career as a freelance illustrator. He has worked with clients such as The Wall Street Journal, Nickelodeon, Warner Brothers and MTV. Since 2002, Nathan has achieved international recognition with the world of "Scarygirl" in the form of comics, designer figures and art. www.scarygirl.com

kozyndan (USA)
Kozyndan are Los Angeles based mad scientists/artists/ illustrators/lovers/ dorks who appreciate and revel in the absurdity of the contemporary world. Their digitally painted pencil drawings reflect the dichotomy of being at once in love with and repulsed by the rampant urban sprawl, technology and the disconnection with the natural world so many people are faced with today. They released their foirts book "Urban Myths" in 2003 and their second book "Lactaid Dreams" in 2004. www.kozyndan.com

Mr Clement (HK/UK)
mr clement was born in 1980 in Hong Kong. He is a graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He is a comic artist and a toy maker who works in Hong Kong, the UK and France. He has been making comics and exhibiting worldwide since 1999. Recent exhibits include "lapin world tour 2" (Paris, 2003) and "lapin World Tour" (Hong Kong 2000). His newest comic "The Gorgeous Harbour" was released in 2004.www.mrclement.com

Andrew Pommier (CAN)
Andrew Pommier is a quiet lad. He is not one to boast or brag about what he has done or what he is doing. It is like pulling teeth to get him to talk about up coming projects. Most of the time he just says "he's working on stuff." His artistic time is split between his computer at home and his painting studio, which is a quick ten-minute bicycle ride away. As well as exhibiting in cities such as Toronto, New York, San Diego and San Francisco he has created commissions for Toy Machine skateboards, Manik skateboards, Element skateboards, C1RCA footwear and Momentum Wheel Co. Andrew has been profiled in magazines such as Transworld skateboarding, Thrasher, Lodown and Monster Children.www.andrewpommier.com

Hoi-An Tang (CAN)
Hoi-An Tang is a Toronto based artist whose work has been shown locally for over a decade. She is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design. Throughout the years, her work has diversified to include printmaking, oil paint, glass, metal, digital media, and mixed media. Using these tools, Hoi-An plans to combine her illustrative style with her hand crafted accessories. www.mehoi.com
